How to Make Your Split AC Summer-Ready

Summers have kicked in and the temperatures are soaring high. We are sure that in these unprecedented times you are taking extra precautions and making everything spick and span at home. Well, make sure you don’t miss out on your air conditioner. And for this, you can send a service request to the authorised service centre or choose to do it yourself.

A 1.5-ton inverter AC is apt for a medium-sized room but is not enough for an average Indian living room. Whether you have a 1.5-ton inverter AC or a 1 ton AC, making it summer-ready is as we have some easy-peasy with this step-by-step guide at your disposal. Read on to know!

  1. Unplug from the power source

To avoid electrical shocks, the first step is to unplug your split AC from the power source. The outdoor unit is likely to have a 240 volts weatherproof isolator near it, which needs to be turned off as well. No cleaning should be done without following this major precautionary step.

2. Clean the filters

Once you’ve turned off the power supply, open the front panel and remove the filters of your split AC. The filters would be dirty because the dust particles from the air outside get trapped into them. Once the filters are removed, use a blow dryer to remove the heavy dust particles and then wash the filters gently with water. The cleaning of the filter is recommended regularly cos when dust accumulates on the air filters, it affects the energy efficiency, the functioning of the AC and the quality of the air you breathe.

 3. Clean the outdoor unit

Dust can accumulate on various parts of the air conditioner and affect its functioning. Hence, the outdoor unit consisting of the huge metal fan also needs to be cleaned cos dirt can affect the flow of air. You need to make sure that the area around the condenser unit is clean to enable it to operate at its best efficiency.

4. Brush up the coils

The coils help in the airflow, so make sure they’re not clogged with dirt and dust. For a split AC, brush away any dirt from your 1.5 inverter AC’s coils with the help of a soft brush and soapy water. Once brushed, wipe the coils with a dry cotton cloth.

5. Unclog the drain pipes

While cleaning the air conditioner inside out, make sure you don’t forget to clean the drain pipes. Even though water flows through them while the AC is on, the chances of them being clogged is more. An average AC with 1 ton 5 star tends to get clogged more often as compared to a 1.5 inverter AC, as the energy consumption and water drainage are less.

Once the cleaning is done, turn on the Air Conditioner and set the temperature to 24°C which will help you save up to 30% on your power bills. In case you have a Panasonic 1 ton 5 star or a 1.5-ton inverter AC, you can schedule a service request through their Whatsapp number or by going to their Facebook handle. Another simpler way is by clicking on their Miraie App. Just schedule a visit and be rest assured cos they are following strict precautions and are taking preventive measures to ensure your family’s safety. Happy Cleaning!
