Considering factors like storage space, convenience, freezer space, installation price, family size, energy consumption & even the design, here’s a simple way to understand the different types of refrigerators:

  1. 4 door refrigerator: Traditionally called “French Door Fridge” with two doors constructed side by side on top with two pull-out drawer or two doors on the bottom wherein the upper section acts as the fridge and the lower section (the pull-out drawer) the freezer, which opens in a similar fashion like a side-by-side Door Refrigerator. Having two doors at the bottom maintains the cooling of one section while the other is open. Some French Door Refrigerators even provide the flexibility of converting the bottom freezer to fridge! The 4 door refrigerators are ideal for a big family, and if you usually require a bigger freezer space, its features include automatic defrosting, a deodorizer that keeps your fruits and veggies fresher and odor free for a longer duration. The best part? French Refrigerators put the fridge section directly at your eye and chest level, which allows you to easily access the commonly used compartments without bending!

  1. 2 door refrigerator: A 2 door fridge is one of the best refrigerators for large families. A four to five-member family’s daily needs can fit into this large double door refrigerator easily. These refrigerators have two doors fitted side by side. It has bigger shelves so you can easily fit the bigger vessels or beverage bottles. In this type of fridge, one door functions as the main door and other one as freezer. So that you can open freezer without opening the main door. The 2 door fridge comes with frost free technology which helps auto clean the ice. The freezer compartment is usually large compared to a traditional single door fridge. Double door refrigerators come within the capacity ranges from 235 to 495 liters. They are energy efficient as they consume less electricity, yet provide enhanced cooling effect to preserve food for longer periods.

  1. 3 door refrigerator: A 3 door fridge runs on frost free technology to help you automatically defrost the freezer section. Three door refrigerators have fruit and vegetable drawer which is attached as a separate compartment. Some three door refrigerators also come with a  bottom mount freezer. This comfortable design helps you easily organize your stuff. The new range of these refrigerators also come with the convertibility feature, which provides a flexible storage, making the freezer section into fridge. The compressor is the main component which cools the refrigerator and the inverter technology in a triple door refrigerator helps maintains a constant compressor speed based on the desired temperature to use as much power as needed which helps in providing uniform cooling. With a 3 door refrigerator one can even save on space as the refrigerator covers little floor space as it stands tall.

You can always choose a refrigerator with pleasing aesthetics and well-organized spacious set-up, as it is going to be a great addition to your kitchen. LG, Panasonic, Samsung, Whirlpool, Godrej & Hitachi are few brands that come with really cool designs!
